The 6th Day (Clone)
March 27, 2008 by Corry Surjawan
Two days ago, I saw an interesting film, even though it was quite an old film. The title of the film was ‘The 6th Day” and it was starred by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The film mainly discussed about clone and clonning.
Dear friends,
Let me give you several simple illustrations:
- One day, when you are walking around the city garden, you meet somebody who looks exactly like you; the appearance and style. Well, when you stand across this person, it seems as if you are looking at a mirror. How do you feel? How do you react?
- One day, you visit a futuristic new mall in town and one of the shops there is offering you to create a clone; it can be either you, your friends, pets, etc. The salesman says “This is definitely a great invention and truly secure. Moreover, you can create new features for the clone and even erase the bad ones. You can get what you want. Not to forget, it is insurance. You can come here at anytime if you feel dissatisfied with it.” Wow, what do you think? Interesting? Want to try?
In my opinion, it seems that the world is degrading to a certain level of not human if this one truly happens in the future. Furthermore, it will drag people to “delete” God. People will only live as they wish and created “things” they want. Why “things”? For me they are not human but robots with feeling and way of thinking.
Planning to rule the world and replace the Almighty God? Wanna try to loosen up a bit and create new challenge? Let’s bring back the prehistoric creatures, dinosaurs, shall we?
If I come to see a scientist and talk about this, what do you think the response will be?It is a new invention in science and if you and the others stop this, it means that you do not want any improvement for this world. And bla…bla…bla…..
Really? So, where shall we put God? You have been given great talent and finally able to create another you so where should God stand among you if you can be just like Him?
Do you remember Genesis 1: 26 and Proverb 1: 1 – 7
Genesis 1:26 26
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
In Genesis 1:26, it is clearly stated that we are created based on His image and we have the power among everything on earth. Can you define the word His image? Well, surely we have things that others do not have. The things which are given to us can be seen in Proverbs 1 and the most important point lays in verse 7.
Proverbs 1 Prologue: Purpose and Theme
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:
2 for attaining wisdom and discipline;
for understanding words of insight;
3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life,
doing what is right and just and fair;
4 for giving prudence to the simple,
knowledge and discretion to the young-
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning get guidance-
6 for understanding proverbs and parables,
the sayings and riddles of the wise.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools [a] despise wisdom and discipline.
It is very obvious that we are born with intelligence. We can learn new things, understand them, share them and even change the world (either good or bad). Let’s look closely at verse 7! There is one thing we must remember and keep it closely in our mind and heart; the fear of God.
Dear friends,
Never think that you are the best for being able to create another human because in the end it will only create imbalance in our life. Old people say “there’s sky above the sky.” Never play God because He is the one and only one, the Almighty God.
Cheers!!!
This is intriguing. As well as predictable. Far too often I have heard and read good messages like this. But I sometimes wonder if there has ever been anyone who dares to challenge this viewpoint by asking some basic, existential questions yet mind-boggling, such as : “why do we refer to God as the third person? “. Have you ever tried , or tried thinking, that all in all it’s just ONE single entity experiencing the whole cosmic events?
If God were really against cloning, why did He give mankind the brain to do so? If God does condemn cloning, why would’nt He interfere and stop the whole effort?
Daerest Corry, this is a challenge to your post. But I believe you have the guts to counter attack it.

Now here comes the lighter side: if you had the ability to clone, who would you clone, dearest Corry?
Somehow I know your answer . . .

Ha3x thanks for the questions there and I do really hope that my friend is here with me to help me to open the Holy Bible for me. I like reading it but I couldn’t do it as fast as her
In my opinion …. just wait let me think which one I prefer first. Ok, the last and go up, shall we?
God will never ever interfere and stop the whole effort. Why? We are all living in the world which can be considered as dark place. Different with the paradise that was previously given to us. Here, we could find misery and death. In my opinion, this world is actually a trial, a place where we are being carefully chosen to enter the place we wanted to. He gave us chances and we are the ones who could decline or go with it. He is waiting what will happen to all of us, how we see it and judge in our own point of view.
Clone will, in the end, cause excessive proud for human. They will have the tendency to boast their ability to create human, rise them from the death, and even the worst, end somebody’s life.
God versus clone? Never heard of it. However, the part that I see is that He gave us the brain to do good deeds. Creating clone if it turns out to be good; for instance: human become nicer, politer, and really good will anybody against it?
Previously, my sis said that “well, according to my lecturer, the cell come form one person and God gave it so God is still exist”. Don’t want to argue with my sis, I know the end, she’ll just yell and shout at me.
Ok, God gave one cell, but then combined with other cells and look a brand new person. The same cell? No.
I put God not as the third person who against. No, He did not come to my dream and said so. The ones that I put was just showing His grace and let the others to think about what will happen to the world.
Become too long now I guess. Btw, I like it send me other questions for my other writing in my blog ok!!!
Yeah, you know who am I gonna make the clone
Cheers - CoS
Who are u gonna clone?? Not answered clearly. You fail
Yelling sister, aaarghh, thank God we haven’t invented a self-cloning machine, for if it existed, your sister could clone herself, and . . . disaster
God is all and all is God. True or false? There is no other party, no other entity, there is only One entity playing different roles: beggars, criminals, teachers, students, the rich, the poor, the dumb.
Hayoo, bisa enggak Corry njawab tantangan yang saya taruh di atas itu. God is all and all is God.
Hugs, crushing as well as intoxicating
